Relatives at War
Welcome to War Stories, a collection war experiences for our extended family.
WAR STORIES
Our maternal Grandfather, William Johnston, served in the 58th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was wounded in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette on 16 Sep 1916, and spent the rest of the war in England, where he met his bride Annie Johnston.
The tragic Story of the Goodfellow Brothers in the Great War. The Goodfellows were cousins of our maternal grandmother Annie Johnston (Goodfellow).
Robert McKenzie was a Typhoon Pilot in WW2. He was married to the niece of our Maternal Grandfather William Johnston.
Our maternal Great Uncle, George Johnston served in the Second World War, first in the Forestry Corps then in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. He was taken prisoner in Mar 1945, but released before the end of the war.
Christopher Cadeau was the cousin to our sister-in-law Marg. He was killed during the Battle of the Scheldt in Oct 1944.
The Woods brothers, Earle and Raymond were relatives of a lady in Dale's building. I was in Perth around remembrance day a few years ago, and they have banners of the fallen on the lamp posts so Dale and I decided to document some folks.
STORIES OF THE GOODFELLOW BROTHERS
